Education Week April 29 - May 3

Education Week 2019: April 29 to May 3

Education Week takes place April 29 to May 3. Throughout the week, students and staff from Bruderheim School, are showcasing and celebrating the role education plays in shaping the future of our province. Led by the Alberta Teachers' Association and Alberta Education, the annual event is celebrated by school communities province wide with activities focused around the importance of education.

Today, more than ever, Bruderheim School, our teachers and schools throughout Elk Island Public Schools, are focused on providing students with optimal learning opportunities. As a result, students are honing a broad range of learning experiences that go beyond the core subjects of math, language arts, science and social studies. They’re becoming lifelong learners and developing valuable skills such as ingenuity, creativity, critical thinking and citizenship. Education Week celebrates this learning journey. To mark the week, Bruderheim School has a number of activities planned—all aimed at demonstrating the outstanding learning taking place in our school. Some of these include:

  • Tuesday April 30th Tamara Martin Spady will be reading and performing for all our students
  • Friday May 3 Cenovus Word Power Local Author Presentations

Bruderheim is excited to partner with Lamont Elementary to provide free hot lunch and healthy snacks to our students this year.

Bruderheim is excited to partner with Lamont Elementary to provide free hot lunch and healthy snacks to our students this year. Thanks to a provincial grant we will be offering the students, free of charge, a healthy snack on Monday’s and Friday’s and a hot lunch on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Information and order forms will be sent home soon so keep an eye on the agenda for more information. The program is entirely voluntary and should your child not wish to participate in any of the meals then a home lunch should be sent with them that day. The portions for lunch will be good, but may not be enough for your child for the whole day. You may want to send snacks each day to help supplement the lunch.

When providing lunches on Monday and Friday please be advised that Bruderheim will no longer have microwaves in the classrooms, so please plan accordingly.

If you wish to volunteer to help with the hot lunch program please contact the school and we will put you in touch with our hot lunch coordinator. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact the school.

School Fees

Families are invoiced for school fees at the beginning of every school year. Fees are due within 30 days of the invoice date. The simplest, and most convenient, way to pay schools fees is by logging in to the PowerSchool Parent Portal and clicking on "Student Fees." If circumstances exist where you are unable to pay your students fees, you can apply to have fees waived by submitting an Application for a Waiver of Fees.
