Welcome back to Mr. McKay, returning to Bruderheim School as principal.

Mr. McKay and Mrs. Semeniuk are currently working on staffing for music, Grade 2 and counsellor.

End of Year Fun!

This time last year, we were packing up certificates and scheduling gym pickups. This year, due to continued restrictions related to the pandemic, we must put our regular traditions such as shared food class parties, barbeques, picnics and whole school fun days on hold for one more year.  Each classroom will celebrate achievements and the end of the year in a way that meets all of our COVID guidelines and will be fun and memorable.

Please have a safe and happy summer!

Talent Show

Thank you to Mrs. Oviatt and the students who have shared their talents with the school community.  Enjoy!

Grade 6 Celebration Ceremonies

Our Grade 6 students will have their end-of-year Grade 6 Farewell ceremonies in our gymnasium with their teacher and the administration on Wednesday, June 23. Students will receive their certificates. Due to Covid-19 health and safety guidelines, we are not able to welcome any parents or community members to join us. However, we will film the event and send a link to families to enjoy.

Hot Dog / Ice Cream Bar Day -  Wed. June 23

Each student/staff will receive one hot dog and an ice cream bar for a lunch treat to celebrate the end of the year.  Hot dogs and ice cream will be individually packaged and delivered to the classroom, with all COVID food handling procedures followed.

Lost and Found Items

We have been organizing all of the items in our lost and found bin in the front hallway. Teachers will bring their classes by to help kids find things that belong to them. A photo of the items will be posted on our school Facebook page. Any items left by the end of the week will be donated.

Report Cards

Report cards will be published to the parent portal on Friday, June 25, at 1:00 p.m. We are so impressed with each child who has demonstrated resilience and growth during a year full of disruptions and challenges!

Class Composition  - September 2021

Our enrollment has increased in the past two weeks with some new fall registrations, allowing us to plan tentative class compositions. Please note that enrollment always increases or decreases over the summer and that class composition may change in August.  Teaching assignments, class composition and student placements will be confirmed in August when the office reopens. At this time the following classes are tentatively planned:

Grade 1

Grade 2

Grade 3

Grade 4/5

Grade 5/6

Student Placements

We know that our families are already thinking ahead to the next school year and wondering about staffing and placements. Parents will be informed of combined class placements in August when the school office reopens.  The school will send you your child's classroom placement via email.

We ask for your support in trusting us to make decisions on student placements into our combined classrooms. We take this task seriously and consider many factors when determining our class lists. Placement requests, received in writing, will be considered prior to the end of June 28, 2021. Please email if you have a request or information you would like to share about your child for next year.

To follow FOIP regulations, the combined class lists will not be posted publicly in the fall, therefore it will be important for you to check your email the last week of August.

School Garden

Our school gardens out front will be expanded with the addition of fruit shrubs and a garden shed over the summer.  Appreciation to our sponsors who have supported the Tiger Garden and the Outdoor Indigenous Classroom and garden spaces.  Also thank you to our students, parents and the Town of Bruderheim that weed and maintain the Tiger Garden and Indigenous gardens over the summer months.

Installation of Video Monitoring Equipment

Bruderheim School has recently installed video monitoring equipment in school hallways and outside the building. Video surveillance is standard across EIPS schools and helps ensure the safety of students, staff and property as well as discourage destructive acts and inappropriate behaviour. Regularly, the school administration may review the video recordings, per the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy (FOIP) Act. The recordings assist the school with monitoring student and staff conduct and may be used as evidence in a disciplinary matter.

For more information about the collection, use and disclosure of personal information, contact Principal Cheryl Semeniuk at 780-796-3936 or the Division FOIP Co-ordinator at 780-464-3477.

Office Hours Summer

The school office will be closed at the end of the day, June 28, 2021, and will be reopening on August 25, 2021, at 9:00 a.m.
