Before and After School Care

Bruderheim Community School has offered before and after school care services for our parents for the past several years. The program has been generously funded by the Town of Bruderheim. This program will continue this year with a minimal charge of $7 per session to the parents. We have a caring, responsible staff who begin each day at 6:30 a.m. and continues to 8:15 when the students then go out to play with the others coming to school at that time.  The after school care begins at 3:00 and continues to 5:45.  The activities over the time the students are there may include working at homework, or may include play time, gym time, outdoor activities (weather permitting), and crafts. Stop by the office to pick up a registration form.

Bruderheim School Supports the Community Food Hamper

Each year in the weeks leading up to Christmas, Bruderheim Community School students and staff donate items to the Town of Bruderheim Food Bank.

Volunteer Appreciation Barbeque

The Volunteer Appreciation B-B-Q takes place every spring. It is an important event where volunteers, and the valuable contributions they make, are recognized and celebrated. Weather permitting; the B-B-Q is an outdoor event. Although volunteers are the guests of honor, the B-B-Q has become a popular community event. Everyone is welcome!

Awards

Ryerson Christie Award

The Ryerson Christie Award is presented on our Awards Night at the end of June each year to the Grade Six student who best exemplifies citizenship through volunteerism, cooperation and a positive attitude.

The Christie family originally set up this award in 1996 in memory of their late father, Ryerson Christie, who attended the old Walker School in Bruderheim in the late 1920s.

Blaze Ashmead Sportsmanship Award

The Blaze Ashmead Memorial Award for Sportsmanship was first presented at our Awards Night in June, 2004.  This award is given to the Grade Six student who best personifies sportsmanship at recess, during gym class, as well as in community sports.

Blaze Ashmead, a former Bruderheim School student, died tragically on December 14th, 2003.  He was an easy going student, who displayed great sportsmanship while at our school.

F.C.S.S. Volunteer of the Year Award

Every year at our Awards Night in June, the Family and Community Support Services presents a school volunteer award.

This award is given to a student who while attending our school has shown outstanding true volunteer spirit, respect and kindness while volunteering, diligence in his or her school work while volunteering, encouragement to others, and took initiative in finding volunteer opportunities on their own.

Bruderheim Preschool

Cynthia Willis has been the preschool instructor for 7 years. She has a diploma in Early Childhood Development and a learning through play philosophy.  Cynthia believes that children can reach their full potential through play.  Her program offers circle time, craft time, library time, gym time and many other centres that will captivate and develop your child's interest!

The program is open to all children that are 3 or 4 years old and are potty trained.  If you have a child that meets these requirements please feel free to call or show up at our registration night!  Preschool starts Monday, October 1st, 2012.

For more information, please call Cyntia Willis at 780.796.0008.
