Daily Physical Exercise
Bruderheim School offers daily Physical Education to each class. Students receive 30 minutes of quality instruction and physical activity each day. Our large gymnasium and vast variety of equipment presents an excellent atmosphere for children to learn in and to play in!
Intramurals
Students at Bruderheim School are offered the option of participating in Intramurals during their lunch recesses. Again, during the 2007-2008 school year, we are pleased to offer Intramurals four days a week. Students not only play a variety of sports and games to improve their skills, but they also develop good sportsmanship and lasting friendships.
Track and Field Day
Bruderheim School's Track and Field Day is always a highlight of the school year! Students compete against their schoolmates in numerous track and field events. Some of the past events have included javelin, 100m dash, scooter relay, ball throw, long jump, tug of war, and the list goes on. The events allow for both competitive and cooperative components in order to appeal to all students. Track and Field Day not only promotes athletics, it also aims to develop sportsmanship, leadership, and team building. All students are encouraged to participate!
M.S. Walk and Jump Rope for Heart
Every year Bruderheim School alternates its support between the Multiple Sclerosis Society and the Heart and Stroke Foundation. These two charities have been chosen as many of the students' and staff members' lives have been affected directly and/or indirectly by these diseases. Thanks to our students' and staff members' outstanding commitment to raising funds for these charities, Bruderheim School has held numerous successful fundraising events! We look forward to maintaining this community spirit and participation!
Terry Fox Run
September 30, 2010 will be the 8th Annual Terry Fox Run that Bruderheim School will participated in. Each year students and staff raise money for the Canadian Cancer Society and run or walk on a one kilometer course around the school grounds. The students also learn about a real Canadian hero - Terry Fox.
Bruderheim Community School students raised over $4000 in the 2009 Terry Fox Run!
Field Trips
Every year, students at our school get to participate in a variety of fields trips geared towards enriching their experiences with physical education. Grades 1-6 participate in swimming lessons at the beginning of the year, and also get to learn how to skate during the winter months. Grades 4-6 have the opportunity to learn to ski or snowboard each year in January, as well. Students, staff and parents alike enjoy these "off-campus" activities!
